Northern Marshall Islands Atolls
Northern Marshall Islands Atolls is part of the Tentative list of Marshall Islands in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
Northern Marshall Island Atolls consists of six low atolls and one low coral island that are home to important green sea turtle nesting sites and are significant habitats for sea, shore, and migratory birds. The range of latitudes demonstrates the variation of typical vegetation and reef systems from the tropical environs in the south to the rare and unique arid atoll ecosystems of Bikar and Bokak in the north. The atolls are an important traditional pantry area for nearby populated atolls due to the abundance of birds, turtles, and their eggs.
